On May 16th, 2024, Austria marked the 80th anniversary of the Bleiburg repatriations, a contentious event involving the deaths of numerous people, including civilians fleeing partisan forces and members of the Ustaše and other collaborationist armies. Austria prohibited a large gathering due to the event's association with right-wing extremism and the glorification of the Independent State of Croatia.
